About Me, Karl Manuel Martinez

Hello, I'm Karl Manuel!

I am 29 years old and I live in London together with my fiancée. Here in London I play drums in my band The Guilty Ones as well as with a singer called Lizzy Pattinson. Have a look at Lizzy's guitarist Steve Youngs website as he and Owen, who plays bass, play a lot of cool gigs.

I have created this site to share my expertise with other drummers and also to practise my newest hobby: web programming. It is tricky but fun; in other words, very similar to drumming.

Background

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden by a Chilean father and Swedish mother. I got my first kit at the age of 11 and I have played drums ever since. I join my first band, By Heart, when I was 13 and stayed with them until 2008. With By Heart I experienced pretty much everything you could imagene a musician could and most of my drumming experience come from that time. However, I also studied music at Stockholm Music Conservatory as well as Musicians Institute in Los Angeles which were I learned most of the things I share here at drummerUK.

Teaching

When I first came to London I gave 12 hours of lessons every week but it was taking too much of my time. Now I only teach a handful of students and only drummers who have a passion for drums and who are willing put some work into it and practice. Read more about my drum lessons.

The website

Plans for 2011

This year is about planning for the future with my future wife. I also intend to have a lot of fun with my bands and make some great music and play some amazing gigs.

Also, not to forget, to further explore my big interest in web development, which is something that you can spend all day doing and still learn new things all the time.
